Poetry is taking over the gallery for a night.
Worcester Artists Group and Poetorium are bringing an evening of featured poets and an open mic to Brain Wash, with readings from Steven Bizel, Eve Rifkah, and Claire Schaeffer-Duffy, and Paul Szlosek keeping things moving as MC.

Come with something to read or just come listen.
There’ll also be a collaborative audience poem built throughout the night and read at the end. Add a line, a word, whatever you’ve got. Or don’t. It’s anonymous and totally optional.

Every second-Tuesday of the month, we meet up to develop our zine through each stage. Our zines are made as a group effort from everyone involved, through every step of the process.

Zine 11 is themed around ghosts, hauntings, and spirits, and is set to release in October, alongside our Spirited Soirée show.

This specific event is at the point of the process where we collect and layout the work for the zine.

A Cleansing Anti-Propaganda Group Show

Presented by the Worcester Artist Group at Hunchback Gallery.

This exhibition asks artists to examine the forces that shape our beliefs and perceptions. Propaganda isn't limited to politics. It exists in advertising, algorithms, consumer culture, religion, nationalism, education, entertainment, social media, and the everyday messages that influence how we see ourselves and the world around us.

The exhibition will also feature a collection of confiscated and destroyed artwork created by jailed and exiled Russian artists and activists, offering historical context alongside contemporary responses.

With the open call for this show, we challenged artists to submit artwork that incorporates a sign in some way, and we’re delighted at the range of interpretations we’ve received. More than 30 artists created 50+ works that range from the literal to the metaphorical, from dark omens and commands to shared whimsy and encouragement.

Closing + Pickup: Saturday, June 13, 2026. The Gallery will be open 12-6pm, with an informal closing from 12-3pm. Purchased and unsold artwork may be picked up between 3-6pm, or by appointment the following week.

The exhibition title “Stroke by Stroke” carries a triple meaning: noting the many individual marks needed to complete each piece, the role art has played in Bill’s physical recovery from multiple strokes, and a dose of Bill’s signature cheeky humor. The show will feature selections from Bill’s many chapters, from advertisements to studies in color and form, and from historical mythology to deeply personal works - some of which have never been shown publicly, including:

• The Salvador Series: A poignant tribute to his former lover and muse who died of AIDS in the 1980s.

Stroke by Stroke: The Art of Bill Griffiths is a comprehensive look at the many lives Griffiths has lived through his art.

Bill Griffiths has lived, taught, and created in Worcester for over 50 years. A technical master of color, light, and the human form, Griffiths influenced generations of artists during his 40-plus years as an educator at the Worcester Art Museum (WAM).

The exhibition title “Stroke by Stroke” carries a triple meaning: noting the many individual marks needed to complete each piece, the role art has played in Bill’s physical recovery from multiple strokes, and a dose of Bill’s signature cheeky humor. The show will feature selections from Bill’s many chapters, from advertisements to studies in color and form, and from historical mythology to deeply personal works - some of which have never been shown publicly, including:

• The Salvador Series: A poignant tribute to his former lover and muse who died of AIDS in the 1980s.

• Gems: Bill’s most recent series, serving as the visual manifestation of his recovery from a series of strokes as he relearned hand-eye coordination through practice.

• Lewdie Nudies: a selection of Bill’s erotic works. To ensure the artist’s work remains uncensored while providing viewers the choice to engage with adult content, these pieces will be presented in a separate room next to the main gallery.

Opening Reception: Friday, March 27, 2026 6-9pm. In addition to mingling and light refreshments, brief remarks from the show producers are planned for 7pm. Free to attend, though donations to the Gallery are graciously accepted.

Rather than let winter gloom get us down, we’re embracing this season of minimal sunlight. The call for [Re]Frame the Dark challenged visual creators to find inspiration in the extended nighttime hours we get this time of year - and they did not disappoint! Through more than 40 original works, 20+ local artists explored a range of nighttime moods, from cozy and romantic to eerie and mysterious, grounded to celestial, organic to electric, and beyond.

Viewing Hours: January 16 - February 21, 2026. Fridays 4-8pm, Saturdays 12-6pm. Free to attend, though donations to the Gallery are graciously accepted. 

Closing + Pickup: Saturday, February 21, 2026. The Gallery will be open 12-6pm, with an informal closing from 12-3pm. Buyers may pick up purchases between 3-6pm, or by appointment the following week.
